Moving Like Seaweed

A recent breathwork session guided by Giten surprised me—not through intensity or effort, but through softness. One image, one metaphor, shifted everything. and

In the session, we explored the "thoracic belt of tension"—a space tied to the heart and shoulders. We began with a defensive posture: arms extended, palms out. It quickly became tiring. When we softened into a more welcoming shape—arms curved like we were ready to give or receive a hug—my breath came easier, my body more at peace.

The Seaweed Moment

Then came the cue that changed everything: "Move like seaweed."
That image dropped me into a new physical state. My knees softened, my centre of gravity lowered. I became more grounded and fluid. And in that moment, I realised something: softness is strength. Seaweed survives the ocean’s force by moving with it, not resisting it.,

I've always appreciated clear instruction in breathwork, but it's the images that linger. In past sessions, I’ve returned again and again to cues like imagining a balloon in the belly, or rubber bands between the arms. These metaphors do more than instruct—they immerse.

Visualization isn’t just poetic it’s also functional. It holds my attention. It makes practice feel like a capsule, protecting me from distraction and inviting deeper connection.

Story as Healing Container

This ties into something I’ve been exploring with the Betwixt app, which blends story, CBT, and meditation. The narrative structure pulls me in. I don’t just think—I feel. I inhabit. And that immersion becomes transformation.

It echoes my love of fantasy. The joy of getting lost in another world isn’t escapism—it’s depth. The world becomes a safe, structured space to explore emotion, identity, change.,

Lately, I’ve felt inspired to create experiences that merge story, breath, and body. I imagine breathwork journeys structured like myths—the Hero’s Journey, rich with archetypes. Each of the seven belts of tension could pair with a unique narrative, guiding the body and the psyche through different realms of healing.

The future feels full of possibility, and story may be the path forward.
